Viva el español

Welcome to Señora Bailey's Spanish Website!

Spanish is a phonetic language. That means it is written exactly the way it sounds. First you have to know the sound of the Spanish letters. Let's start with the vowels.

A (ah) as in father

E (eh) as in egg

I (ee) as in wee

O (oh) as in open

U (oooh) as in goo

Now, let's try a little rhyme. Can you say it three times very quickly? (Here's a little hint. In Spanish, "qu" is pronounced like the letter "k".)

A, E, I, O, U

Yo sé más que tú.

(Now can you say Paranguaracutirimícuaro?)
